ASEAN scholarship for Myanmar Students

The ASEAN Scholarships for Myanmar is tenable for 4 years leading to theaward of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education 'Advanced'(GCE 'A') Level (or equivalent) certificate.The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from SecondaryThree to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactoryperformance of the scholar. Students from Myanmar are nominated by the Myanmar Ministry of Education forthe scholarships. Candidates who are not short-listed for the scholarships will beconsidered for the Merit Awards.

Students must meet the following criteria to be nominated for the scholarship.

1 Be nationals of The Union of Myanmar

2 Be between 14+ to 16+ years old

3 Completed at least Grade 9 and have done consistently well in school examinations

4 Be proficient in English and have offered English Language as a subject at Grade 9

Any dates given below are tentative and are subject to changes.

1 Application period - June to July

2 Selection test and interview dates - August Candidates short-listed for the selection test/interview will be notified a week before the selection test/interview dates

3 Award of scholarship - early September

4 Arrival of scholars in Singapore - late September1 Please enquire with the Myanmar Ministry of Education with regard to application for the scholarships.The selection tests and interviews will be conducted in Yangon1 Allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) per annum with hostel accommodation2 S$400 settling-in allowance (once only)

3 Economy class air passage to Singapore and back to home country upon completion of course

4 Waiver of school fees and donation to the Education Fund

5 Waiver of GCE 'O' and 'A' Level examination fees (once only, if applicable)

6 Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover7 Bridging courses (if applicable, in Singapore before start of course)8 THERE IS NO BOND ATTACHED TO THE SCHOLARSHIP
